A town like Alice

Ever since I discovered Nevil Shute's novels, I've had a hankering to be in Australia, and especially Alice Springs. I know that expecting to recognize a city from a book is quite a waste of time, Lonely Planet Egypt warns its readers that expecting to see the Alexandria of Lawrence Durrell is like going to England and expecting Mary Poppins. But Shute's A Town Like Alice hardly touches upon the town itself, but is instead more like a presence throughout the book. So when AJ told me about his plan to go to Alice, I jumped at the opportunity. I'll be back with lot of thousand-word pictures.
